ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems solves challenges in the shipyard segment
Located in the Gulf of Manfredonia, the Marina del Gargano is the newest marina on the Adriatic and can accommodate
transit and sedentary boats and super yachts up to 60 meters. With its favourable strategic location, security meteomarina and backdrops, the Marina del Gargano is a unique attraction for tourists and boaters who want to visit the Gargano Promontory, or embark on tours and vacations to nearby international locations such as Croatia, Greece, and across the Adriatic side of the Mediterranean.
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems provided:
- 4 Megadoor S1000 for the storage shed
- 3 Megadoor S800 for the workshop
- The special climatic conditions (common to most of coastal areas) for the geographical location of the new doors, required a careful design study regarding the closures of storage and workshop buildings. The buildings are located very close to the sea, and also due to the lack of surrounding hills, buildings are exposed to strong seasonal winds. The Megadoor systems are specifically designed to operate in extreme conditions of various kinds, and were therefore the preferred choice of the client. In addition to the standard supplies, the doors were adapted to meet the specific local conditions, such as wind resistance class up to 0.7KN/mq, guard motors, profiles in plastic polymers to cover aluminum parts which are exposed to natural corrosion, and protection cover for the limit-switch boxes.
Challenges / Critical issues:
- Large clearance openings needed
- Corrosion caused by salt
- High wind load
